A strategic approach to sustainability
By enrolling on the National Green Impact Scheme, we’re placing more focus on our social and environmental practices, which is delivering multiple benefits.
Shaping our strategy around sustainability is enabling us to build our business while protecting the planet.
We care about our environment and we want to continue our growth, so since 2024 we’ve been working hard to ensure we achieve both.
By enrolling on the National Green Impact Scheme, we’re placing more focus on our social and environmental practices, which is delivering multiple benefits.

We’ve invested in solar panels, which provides us with a long-term financial gain by powering our entire office building during the working day. We also sell energy back to the national grid in warmer months.
The introduction of electric cars – we currently have a significant number of employees driving them, via our Salary Sacrifice Scheme – is reducing our staff carbon emissions, alongside our cycle to work and car share schemes.

Small changes like introducing bird feeders in our green space and involving our staff in local ‘Rubbish Networking’ events, run by NOSY, where businesses team up to clear litter, are all making a difference.

Our efforts to work more sustainably are appreciated by our customers and it enables us to influence their own approach to sustainability.
We believe it helps us to be viewed positively by consumers, giving us a competitive edge, while also making us an attractive proposition for prospective staff who share our values.

David Jackson, WRS CEO, said:
“The environment is a key priority for WRS and we see sustainability as a fundamental part of our business strategy. The Green Impact scheme has helped us focus on meaningful, tangible changes and over the course of 2024, we’ve seen significant behavioural shifts, cost savings and a noticeable reduction in carbon emissions. It’s a programme we strongly recommend to businesses looking to take their first steps on the path to sustainability.”
